Brand Story: The Origin of FUKI
In Ibusuki, Kagoshima – the birthplace of our matcha – stands Mount Kaimon, a beautiful, cone-shaped volcano affectionately known as the “Satsuma Fuji.” This iconic peak, visible from my grandmother’s tea fields, is a proud symbol of the region.
My family has been tea farmers for generations in Ei-cho, Kagoshima.
Even at the age of 88, my grandmother continues to work passionately, devoting her life to the craft of tea-making.
The name “FUKI” comes from my grandmother.
It represents respect and gratitude for her lifelong dedication to tea-making.
Kagoshima became Japan’s No.1 tea-producing region in 2024, surpassing Shizuoka and maintaining that position in 2025.
Kagoshima tea is celebrated not only for its production volume, but also for its exceptional taste, aroma, and vibrant color.
Tea grown at the foot of Mount Kaimon is known for its natural sweetness, vivid green color, and rich umami flavor.
I believe that my family’s health and well-being are thanks to a lifetime shared with this wonderful tea.
Through FUKI, we hope to bring the tradition of Kagoshima tea to you and invite you to add a healthy “matcha break” ritual to your daily life.
